Malta, Blue Grotto
Guide to Malta, Gozo, Comino.
|
| Malta's Blue Grotto is situated on the south coast of the island of Malta. It is a lovely spot - large flat rocks to clamber about on high up on the headland with fantastic texture. You can go out on one of the little boats for a tour around the Blue Grotto caves - and this is definitely the best way to see them. The colours are incredible- beautiful, clear, azure water which is amazingly deep. There are many limestone caves, each with a name to suit its features - one is shaped like an elephant, for instance. It is a very popular spot for diving; our tour guide told us this was due to the many sponges to be seen below the water.
The Blue Grotto was also used for a scene of the 2004 film Troy, starring Brad Pitt.
