Malta, Dingli Cliffs.
Guide to Malta, Gozo, Comino.
|
| Dingli Cliffs are on Malta's South Western coast and have to be visited if only for the
name! There are great views out to sea from here, looking across the terraced fields,
which fall away beneath you. The many huts you can see are used for trapping small
birds. A female bird (e.g. Bullfinch) is caged just outside the hut where it sings to attract
the more attractive male of the species. As the male bird approaches it is trapped by the
burly Maltese who is watching from his hut. Warning: these people do not like to be
observed by tourists. You may well be "shooed" away if they feel you are taking an
interest.
The small road carries on for some way along the top of Malta's Dingli cliffs and
provides a good place for a (breezy) walk There is also a well signed restaurant to
reward yourself after your exertions.
