Guide and Virtual Tour of Malta: Mdina, Cathedral of St Paul.
Panorama | Review | Map
Mdina is known as Malta's 'Silent City'. It is a beautifully preserved, walled, medieval city on Malta's highest and most defensible point. This is the place to see St Paul's Cathedral abd the Catacombs as well as beautiful architecture. It is a very popular spot with tourists and houses some amazing historical buildings.
The streets remain cool even in the heat of the summer, due to the high walls and narrow roads. The entrance is across a deep moat (now a volleyball court) and through a decorative archway.
You can walk around its narrow streets or take one of the 'karozzini', Maltese carriages. Definitely a 'must-see' when you visit Malta.
