Mgarr is a tiny, ordinary village in the interior of Malta, which, like so many of Malta's tiny villages has a huge, extraordinarily beautiful church.
This isolated village is about five kilometres from Mosta and the church of St Mary, pictured here, is a copy of the Mosta Rotunda. It was built with donations of funds and labour from the local people in 1912.
The countryside in this area is primarily agricultural and provides good walking country in the fertile valleys.
Apparently, Malta has a church for every day of the year (although we didn't check...) and they all seem to be spectacular.
